A Carmanah 601 with an expected life of 5 to 8 years is still going strong nearly 12 years later. This is impressive in itself but even more so considering the light’s geographical location 60 degrees North of the equator in Shetland where the winter nights are longer than 18 hours in December.
The light was supplied to A&C Tait who use it on a buoy to mark a mussel farm site. Needless to say Andrew Tait has been happy with his purchase.
