Hydrosphere’s Technical Sales and Engineering staff have recently undergone the Basic Offshore Safety Induction Emergency Training (BOSIET) at Fleetwood Offshore Survival Centre (FOSC) in Blackpool. (25th February 2014)
FOSC is a leading provider of safety, survival and fire training to both the Merchant Navy and the Offshore Oil & Gas Industries. With more than 20 years experience delivering offshore survival and safety training, the centre holds one of the best facilities in Europe including a purpose-built environmental training tank, river launching facility and fire training centre.
The training programme, which includes helicopter safety and escape (HUET), sea survival, and fire fighting and self rescue, is designed to meet the initial offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new to the offshore oil and gas industry.
Sean Corlett, Technical Manager for Offshore Renewable Energy and one of the newly BOSIET qualified Hydrosphere employees said of the training: “Offshore Renewables and Oil and Gas companies worldwide are required to ensure that everyone travelling to one of their platforms has completed an appropriate offshore safety and emergency training course. As Hydrosphere’s offshore client-base continues to grow, we are increasingly called upon to attend deployments and perform operation and maintenance work for the various wind, wave and tidal installations that we supply Aids to Navigation to. The BOSIET qualification has therefore become a necessity for many of our Sales and Engineering staff.”
The BOSIET certificate is valid for 4 years.
