Racing marks can vary in size from the largest 3m diameter buoy right down to the 0.4m diameter buoy depending on the site conditions and size of racing boats.
Typically a yacht club is looking for buoys at the smaller lower cost end of the scale. The following buoys have proved suitable as racing marks.
The T 1200 is a new buoy with a 1.2m diameter hull but with a more substantial daymark than other markers such as the navigation buoy and also a heavier central structure and keel to give stability. Weighing 170kg it has a focal plane of 1.8m but the wider daymark body gives it a greater visual presence.
The ES 1700 Spar Buoy and M 1200 are also available as alternative buoys for use as racing marks.
